Draft Concept Design- Map
Note - Download the Map to zoom in and read details. In summary, several strategies have been employed to maximise the existing and potential future habitat present in Mabel Park these include: • Layered riparian planting, • Habitat ponds, • Rock riffles, • Logs and other elements that will establish a diverse range of riparian habitats within the creek and along its edges. • Extensive planting will create habitat for mammals, insects and reptiles, including tree species that will provide food for local Flying Fox and Koala communities. • Concrete from the existing drainage channel may be repurposed to create retaining walls, creek base structures or lizard habitats. • Developing a sense of community connection to the park through planting activities, as well as signage with QR codes that promote citizen science will ensure that residents are aware of and actively monitor the creek’s condition.
