Would you like to see changes to the dog off-leash area at Regents Park?
Division 7 Councillor Tim Frazer is exploring the opportunity to extend the existing area to create separate areas for large and small dogs.
The current proposal includes:
new 1500 mm-high fence dividing the existing dog off-leash area into 2 sections
new entry airlock gate providing access to both areas with a connecting path
installing a new bubbler
upgrading 4 signs.
constructing a new shelter with picnic setting
new dog agility equipment: 4 painted concrete pipes, 6 sandstone rocks, 4 doggy jump rings, 1 doggy balance beam, and 1 doggy peak.
new maintenance access gate.
Council invited you to share your thoughts and ideas on what improvements you would like to see at Regents Park.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the proposed dog off-leash Area upgrade at Regents Park. Council values your input.
The results - and another chance to have your say
We can confirm that, as a community, you would overwhelmingly be happy to see a separating fence in the existing dog off-leash area.
The area of most concern from the community was the size allocated between the proposed small and large dog areas.
Council is unable to make the overall area any larger as it already far exceeds standard size of a dog-off leash areas. We can, however, review the way we split the current area, taking into consideration existing infrastructure and tree locations.
The next best option
There are 2 options for how we can provide an opportunity for small and large dogs and their owners to enjoy the park equally.
We have provided 2 options that reduce the size of the small dog off-leash area, still keeping it well above the requirement (a minimum of 600 square meters).
Please let us know your preference by a simple like or comment on your preferred option.
