What is Transform Logan

We want to transform the City of Logan over the next 50 years and improve the quality of life for current and future generations who call the City of Logan home. Logan is seeking your feedback to help create a new vision and set city-wide goals outlining how Logan should ideally evolve.

In order to protect what you love about the city and build on our strengths and address our challenges, we need to hear from you, our community member, to help the city reach its full potential.

What will this new vision look at?

The goals will be set around five main themes, and they will be supported by project ideas and investment over the short, medium and long term.

    1. thriving community - Logan is a young and culturally diverse city. Our people are warm and welcoming and we are known as a great place to raise a family. We want to ensure our city is safe for residents, that there is strong social connections and that people are able to live healthy and active lives. We are also focused on reshaping outdated narratives and lifting the city’s reputation.
    1. water energy and waste - Significant investment is needed to deliver waste, water and energy infrastructure over the coming decades. Beyond capital costs, ongoing costs are rising and becoming self-sufficient and sustainable is crucial. New technologies are also emerging and we will need to be progressive in our thinking to ensure our plans are right for the future.

    2. natural areas - Logan is renowned as a green city. Almost half of all land is identified as environmental corridors, made up of land for biodiversity and wildlife and rivers and wetlands. We also have 977 recreational parks located throughout the city. We want to build on this existing strength as the city grows over the coming decades. This requires long term thinking to ensure that we are planning now for the land that is needed for the future.

    3. economic transformation - The economy of Logan is evolving and we want to ensure that we can attract a diverse range of industries and jobs for our residents. Growing the number of knowledge-based jobs in the city will be important as we aim to build more local wealth. Pathways to employment and life-long learning opportunities are key focus areas to equip our residents with the skills needed to respond to changes in the economy.
    1. city mobility and infrastructure - As the population grows, it is critical that the city develops sustainably. Density in the right locations connected to highly efficient public transport options has the potential to create a more liveable city.

Is this related to Logan’s Community Vision (2021)?

In 2021 Logan asked the community to prepare a community-owned 10-year vision which included a series of ideas categorised into 9 themes to help guide Council’s decision making. With many of the projects and issues in this vision document now delivered or underway, the vision is due for renewal. Logan will work with the community to prepare a new city vision to take us further into the future with a new 50 year horizon.

How will the Logan community be involved?

    • Earlier this year, 50 community representatives were independently recruited to be a part of a Reference Panel that will meet throughout 2025 to discuss and provide feedback on each of the 5 themes to help draft a new city vision, long term goals and identify catalytic goals to be delivered over the short, medium and long term.
    • Logan community members are encouraged to complete the short Transform Logan Survey – until 30 August
    • Ask a question to our project team via email at engagement@logan.qld.gov.au
