Waterway naturalisation of Mabel Park will: • slow the movement of water • improve water quality • improve aquatic habitats (for animals like fish and frogs) • create a better looking public space • improve land habitats • cool the park. As part of the design a critical consideration is flooding. The channel design (for example, its width and depth) will be guided by flood modelling to ensure no additional flood risk and address existing flooding issues where possible.
